What is Spunlaced microfiber?
Spunlace is made of the same ultra-fine synthetic mitosis (about 1 / 100 of the diameter of human hair and 1 / 20 of the diameter of silk strand). This synthetic mitosis is very strong and almost hairless.
Spunlaced "cloth" is made through another manufacturing process, called Spunlaced entanglement. Water jets are used to wind fine fibers to provide the familiar fabric integrity. It is then treated with adhesive to ensure sustainability during washing.
The manufacturing process of nonwovens is called hydraulic winding, which includes winding loose fiber webs together through multi drainage jets under high pressure. This process entangles the fabrics together and connects the fibers to form a cloth. Connecting the two fabrics in different directions makes them isotropic, that is, the strength measured in different directions is the same.
Spunlaced nonwovens have several terms, such as jet entanglement, needling, hydraulic entanglement or hydraulic entanglement, but Spunlaced is the most popular term in the nonwovens industry.
Spunlaced and woven Microfiber
The traditional microfiber is a kind of Terry woven cloth. The spunlaced nonwoven fabric is made of the same split microfiber filament. It feels like a piece of cloth, but it is smooth, thin and has significant strength in all directions. Like the traditional woven microfiber cloth, Spunlaced cloth is made of hundreds of thousands of special polyester polyamide superfine single yarns through specific chemicals, heating and stirring.
As Dolly Parton reported, "storms make trees take root deeper", and the spunlaced microfiber cloth remains firm and can continue to work even with slight stains. It is as thin as a paper towel, but its water absorption is much stronger than that of a standard shop bought paper towel, coupled with the cleaning ability of microfiber! The storm made the trees take deep roots -- a quotation from Dolly Parton
Other properties of spunlaced microfiber cloth include high density, heat and chemical resistance, very uniform surface (i.e. lint free height, T-shirts are compared to carpets), fabric like feel, excellent water absorption, durability and strength to weight ratio (military grade is considered). In short, high quality Spunlaced cloth is reusable and durable. Once washed, it is lint free and feels as soft as suede (Shami). Although they may not last 500 washes as claimed by other microfiber fabrics, there is no doubt that these strong and elastic fabrics are too good to be used only once!
The result of matching the Microfiber with the spunlaced manufacturing process keeps the fabric 7 times its weight in dirt, dirt and liquid until it is cleaned with mild soap or detergent. The same space can absorb dust and shorten the drying time. This eliminates most of the bacterial growth found in slow drying clothes.
When and how to use Spunlaced Microfiber
Spunlaced microfiber is usually used for disposable applications, but it is also suitable for many different applications, including industrial applications and the automotive industry. It is even soft enough to remove cosmetics. They are also suitable for store towels or biohazard applications that require disposable towels.
